You can contact a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional online using a website called Accurx.
One problem per appointment policy
The majority of GP appointments are ten minute duration. We ask that you try to observe the “one appointment, one problem” ethos. We strive to deal with each medical problem to the highest standard and this proves to be impossible if we are asked to deal with a number of problems in one appointment slot. Please also note that your appointment is for you only. Please do not ask the doctor to deal with the problems of a child or other relative in the same appointment slot. Please make a separate appointment for your child/relative if they need to be seen as well.
Doctors cannot see huge numbers of patients with multiple problems and continue to practice safely and effectively. A stressed doctor will struggle to be a good and safe doctor.
We do consider that GP appointments are a limited resource and we would kindly ask that such a service be used with care and consideration. Therefore please do not be offended if the doctor asks you to rebook for your other problems. We are working in your best interests to keep you safe.
Urgent and routine appointments
To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:
- Complete our online form, if you need help completing the form phone us on 0117 909 9912 to speak with our care navigators
- To complete our online form click here or use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) or Patient Access
It is important to provide as much information as possible about your symptoms in order to be seen by the right member of the team at the right time. Care navigators may signpost you to other organisations including community pharmacies.
Please appreciate that there is a high demand for primary care and your symptoms will be assessed by the care navigators and the GP team for urgency. We have a finite number of appointments available each day.
Please note that we have updated our online GP request form (the form you use to contact us).
Now, when you submit an online request through our website or the NHS App for a health problem, you may be shown alternative NHS services and resources where you might be able to get help or treatment more quickly.
We’ve made this change to give you more ways to manage your health, but you can still always contact us.
Life threatening – go to A&E
If you or someone you know has a life-threatening condition, such as loss of consciousness, a sudden confused state, chest pain, breathing difficulties etc, you should call 999.
Enhanced access
We provide later hours on some days. Please ask on your online request if you would find this useful.
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery

Home visits
Home visits are available for patients who are genuinely unable to attend the surgery due to medical reasons. Our aim is to ensure patients receive safe, timely care from the most appropriate healthcare professional.
Who Can Request a Home Visit?
Home visits are reserved for patients who are:
- Clinically housebound, or
- Medically unfit to travel to the surgery without significant risk.
If you are able to leave your home with assistance, travel by car/taxi, or use community transport, we kindly ask that you attend the surgery where we have better facilities for examination and treatment.
How to Request a Home Visit
1. Online Triage Form (Preferred Method)
Please submit your home visit request using our online triage form. This helps our clinicians assess your needs quickly and safely. To submit a form click here
2. If You Cannot Use the Online Form
If you are unable to complete the form, please call the surgery on 0117 909 9912 (option 1).
A Care Navigator will complete the triage questions with you over the phone.
Request Time
Where possible, please make home visit requests before 12:30pm so we can assess and schedule visits appropriately.
What Happens After You Make a Request?
- A clinician will review your request the same day.
- You may receive a telephone call first to help us understand your condition and decide on the most appropriate care.
- Not all requests require a home visit—some issues can be safely managed by phone consultation, or by arranging a same‑day appointment at the surgery.
When Will a GP Visit?
General practice is not an emergency service and there is a high demand on services. GPs have prebooked clinics both morning and afternoon and the timing of visits is dependent on the patient demand that day.
If you feel your condition is an emergency and cannot wait, please call 999 or to go A+E
Other Professionals Who May Visit
To ensure timely care, we work closely with a range of NHS community services. Depending on your needs, your visit may be carried out by:
- Community nurses
- Physiotherapists
- Paramedics
- The Urgent Community Response (UCR) team
- Other community support services
These teams provide a wide range of assessments and treatments, often more specialised for home‑based care.
Before We Arrive
To help us carry out your visit safely:
- Ensure we can access the property.
- Secure any pets.
- Have a family member or carer present if needed.
